Hearing 'Imperial March' In Major Key Will Make You Happy

Musician Ian Gordon has transposed the score of the Imperial March from Star Wars to a major key, and now the ominous sounding theme for übervillain Darth Vader sounds surprisingly happy and upbeat. Festive, even.

Ian explains how he modified John William's original composition:

Though I have been a musician for many years, I have no real knowledge of music theory. I learn the themes by ear and then record them into Cubase. From there I basically mess with the notes until they sound 'happier' or 'sadder' depending on the theme. That's all there is to it.

He also made a video explaining the process, demonstrating how he gave the theme from The X-Files an update:
